This week, the RTE team caught up with the man who built the world’s first jackhammer.
The jackhammer was a machine designed to break into and smash the back of objects.
It was designed in 1903 by Joseph W. Schmitz, who was a pioneer in the making of wooden weapons.
Today, it is used in military and law enforcement agencies around the world.
Its inventor, who is now 94, died in 1954 and is buried at his family home in Minnesota.
